Disney’s beloved 2002 animated film Lilo & Stitch is making a comeback with a live-action adaptation set to hit UK cinemas on May 21, 2025. Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, known for Marcel The Shell With Shoes On, this reimagining aims to capture the chaotic charm of the original while offering a fresh perspective for both new and returning audiences.​

The film stars newcomer Maia Kealoha as Lilo, the young Hawaiian girl who befriends Stitch. To foster authentic interactions, Kealoha performed alongside a Stitch puppet during filming. Fleischer Camp recalls, “Even on days when we weren’t shooting them in the same scene together, she would insist on giving him a kiss goodnight.” This genuine bond aims to translate into a heartfelt on-screen relationship that resonates with audiences. ​
